WHY READING HOROSCOPES IS NOT FOR CHRISTIANS

(READ: Isaiah 47:12-14; Deuteronomy 18:9-13)
Identifying zodiac signs and reading horoscopes are such common things to do. And they seem to be so harmless. Basically, by reading a horoscope, we are looking to anyone or anything and NOT God for direction on our lives. To some it is just like an innocent habit. In reality, we are ascribing the power of the Creator to something created. And that dishonored God. In these passages, we see God’s strong opinion of consulting anyone other than Him for wisdom and direction. This attempt to gain insight into the unseen or power over others is seen as the occult, and is detestable to God.
So while it may seem harmless, when we look deeper into Scripture, there is grave danger of consulting anything besides God on how to live our lives. It’s part of Satan’s great deception … to appear innocent, all the while leading people away from an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father. When we take a step away from God, we open a crack for Satan to step in and influence us in greater ways.
